LEED is an acronym for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. It is a third-party certification program administered by the U.S. Green Building Council. The program uses a consensus-based rating system to determine the environmental impact of buildings based on performance in five key areas of human and environmental health:

-Sustainable site development

-Water savings

-Energy efficiency

-Materials selection

-Indoor environmental quality.
